Allen Basin Reservoir is a reservoir located just 25 miles from Steamboat Springs, in Rio Blanco County, in the state of Colorado, United States, near Yampa, CO. In Allen Basin you will find a variety of fish mostly rainbow trout, brook trout and cutthroat trout here. Half of the Reservoir butts up to private land. The very last ranch owners on the right side of the road heading into Allen Basin and the Crosho Lake inlet, please DO NOT jump the fence on to their property or you will be prosecuted.
Fishing has been hear say back in 2012 using flies and bobbers and we knocked down about 5 rainbows in the 12-15" range with rumors stirring of fish in the 2-5 pound range. In 2014 there was rumor to have been a large winter over kill and as of now current conditions for 2017 are unclear until AnglerHunters next outing in 2018.

Allen Basin Reservoir: We will be revisiting Allen Basin Reservoir in the spring of 2018 for a more up to date Fishing report. Allen Basin is a more locals only reservoir and no one really keeps up to date coverage on the fishing. Last time we attended we had some success but the weather drove us out early 2012.
Allen Basin is rumored to have Rainbow, Brook and Cutthroat Trout. It is a decent size reservoir, with all the natural food sources for these fish to thrive on and the fact it is mainly only fished by locals in the Upper Flat tops could mean that it has a good chance to be home to some giant 3-5 pound trouts.
